Marilyn Jane Shaw, age 86, died Friday, July 28, 2023, at her Olney home surrounded by her children.

Jane was born August 24,1936, in Mt. Carmel, IL to John and Flora Odom. She was introduced to her husband, George, by a friend, and they married on May 1, 1952, in Lawrenceville, IL. Jane and George had three children, Vicki, Mike, and Brent.

They lived in several areas around the US before settling in the Olney area. She worked at Colonial Manor and Marks' Sunset Manor for many years as a CNA, where she helped care for the residents whom she loved and still talked about many years after she retired.

Jane enjoyed crafting, a good rummage sale, her birds and gardening, reading, and as of late, watching Dr. Pol. She especially loved visiting with friends and family. Jane cherished time spent with her siblings, kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, especially spoiling those greats when they came along. She was a very generous soul who would help anyone in need, whether you were her friend, family, or neighbor, even if it meant she had to do without. Jane carried herself with such elegance, grace, and kindness, and was just one of the loveliest people you might ever meet.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, George Shaw; son, George Michael Shaw; and grandson, Christopher Glassford.
