Raymond Peter 'Sparky' Schwartz, 76, of Avon died Sunday at Harborside Nursing Home in Westlake following a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Avon and graduated from Avon High School in 1942. He was employed for 39 years as an experimental lab technician at B.F. Goodrich in Avon Lake. He was descended from one of the founders of Avon. He was a third generation Schwartz to live and farm on Schwartz Road. The Schwartz Road Park was named after his father. Mr. Schwartz was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Avon and the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the B.F.Goodrich Bowling League and was one of the originators of the Avon Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, gardening and was an avid sportsman and Cleveland Indians fan. In his younger days, he was an all-star pitcher.
