Betty Jo Vaughn Salyers, 78, of Greenup, loving wife of Nigel Salyers, entered heaven peacefully Sunday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2015, with her family by her bedside following an extended illness. Betty Jo was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late Willie Joe and Grace Tuttle Vaughn. Her family was her life and there were none more precious than her husband; children; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Surviving in addition to Nigel include a son, George Curtis Salyers of Greenup; and five daughters, Annette Salyers of Lexington, Roetta Walls of Lexington, Jeanine Stephens of Greenup, Tammy Witt (Salyers) of Wurtland, and Beth Sark of Argillite. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 25, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland by Junior Lewis and Sam Ison. Burial will be in the Salyers Family Cemetery in Greenup. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
