Larry L. Childs, 88, of Yorktown, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Larry was born the son of James H. and Dorothy M. (Brown) Childs in Daleville, Indiana on September 17, 1934.
He grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Indiana and was a 1953 graduate of Center High School. Larry married the love of his life, Marilyn, and they were married for 67 years.
Larry loved the Lord and was saved in 1963. He was a 24 year member of Pleasant Hill U. B. Church where he served as S.S. Superintendent for 22 years. He taught Sunday School and worked in the church camps. He has been a member of the Grace Baptist Church for 36 years. He served as deacon and usher. He also drove the bus for the Caleb's Kin Ministry. He was retired from Marsh Supermarkets. He loved witnessing about the Lord to the young men that he worked with.
Larry loved his family deeply and spent as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Childs; his children, a daughter Debra Turner; and a son, Jerald Childs (wife Beth); two grandsons, Alex Childs of Carmel and Adam Childs of Muncie; two granddaughters, Aubrey Turner of Indianapolis and Anna Ritz (husband Colton) of Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Childs and Karin Berg; three nieces and one nephew. Larry was preceded by his parents; brothers, Norman Childs and Capt. Thomas Childs; and a grandson, Brandon Joseph Turner.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church - 6401 West River Road, Muncie, with Rory Bond officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery, Muncie.
