He was the son of Elza VanMeter and Barbara Holsapple. He 1st married America Catherine "Mary" Gray. Children: Sarah, William, Barbara, Lucinda Jane, Thomas Jefferson, John and Mary Victoria. He 2nd married Adaline Mayfield. Children: Sherman, Minnie May and Lillian.
He operated a hotel in Salem for a short time and had a farm near New Philadelphia. He also worked as a wagon maker, carpenter and justice of the peace. He was a 55-year member of the Christian church.
He was my 3rd great grandfather.
