He was a self-employed drilling contractor, working in minerals exploration domestic water wells.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Fallon; sons, Val, of Chino Valley, AZ; and Rex, of Provo, UT; daughters, Shirley Hester of Wheatridge, CO; Elaine Hurst of Irmo, SC; and Tracy Redd of St. George, UT; sister, Welma Williams of Mesa, AZ; and brother, Keith of Monticello, UT; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Drive in Fallon. Inurnment will be private.
Memorials are established with the American Cancer Society, 6490 S. McCarran Blvd. Reno, NV 89509 and the SPCA of N. Nevada, 840 E. 5th St., Reno, NV 89512 or the animal shelter of one's choice.
