Gaila Renae (Timothy) Holmes
August 27,1940 ~ June 23, 2023

Gaila Renae Holmes age 82 of Vernal, passed away June 23, 2023 in Vernal, Utah. She was born on August 27, 1940 in Altonah, Utah to Charlie and Reba Timothy. She married Duane (Duke) William Holmes on November 2, 1959 in Las Vegas, Nevada and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1965. They have 3 children Mark (Kay Lynn) Holmes, GayLynne (Kurt) Case, and Michael (Fawn) Holmes.

Gaila is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many church callings including relief society president, young women's president, girls camp leader, and because of her love for music she was the ward chorister for many years. She also served as a temple worker in both the Provo, Utah and Vernal, Utah temples with her husband. She loved spending time with her family no matter where they were or what they were doing she was always there to support them. She loved having her grandkids around to spoil with special treats from her house.

Gaila was a member of the Dinah Spurs riding club and love spending hours on her horse traveling with them. She loved to go camping and spend time on the mountain and travel with the camper on vacations with family and friends. She loved to harvest her and Dukes garden and enjoyed canning. She loved to sing and entertain her family with karaoke. She was invited to sing in the choir for the Vernal, Utah temple groundbreaking and felt it an honor to be there. She loved Christmas and always made the best Christmas candy to share with neighbors and friends. For every special occasion that came along her sweetheart Duke never forgot to send her flowers. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. We will miss her greatly, but are secure in the knowledge that we will see her again.
