A. Marie Garman Aird of Roanoke, Virginia went to the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Marie is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Jesse B. Aird III. Jesse says of Marie, "Marie was as near a perfect wife as a man could have." Marie was the oldest of six children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Wade Garman; brother, Roger Garman; and sister, Jane Garman Adams. Surviving Marie are two sisters, Myrtle Garman Simmons and Linda Garman Bailey (Jim); one brother, Richard Garman (Joanie); and many nephews and nieces.
Marie was employed at John W. Hancock, Jr., Inc. for 44 years and retired as Corporate Secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia, where she served in the choir and participated in many activities including mission trips and VBS. She will be missed by many, and her memories will be precious to those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Carilion RMH Trauma Unit for their care and concern for Marie and the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to the Roanoke Rescue Mission or other charity of your choice.
A private family graveside service will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park.
