Dolores' Obituary
Livingston, Dolores Jean (nee Gruettemeyer), asleep in Jesus, Monday, July 24, 2023.
Beloved mother of Sam (Sheila) Livingston and the late Leslie (survived by Kathy Kordonowy) Livingston; dearest grandmother of Richard, Sarah and Shane; loving daughter of the late Karl and Lena Gruettemeyer (nee Bertram); sister of the late Carl (Estelle) Gruettemeyer, Betty (Bob) Provance, Hilda Gruettemeyer, Edna (Cecil) Chumley, Edward (Virginia) Gruettemeyer and Ada (George) Hammer; our dear great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Dolores loved to garden and cultivate beautiful flowers. She knew all the species and their growing requirements. Horses, cats, dogs and any critter held a special place in her heart with her often preferring her animals' company over humans. She was born to German immigrant parents making her first generation American. She was the youngest of seven, outliving all her siblings and their spouses. She was the last surviving member of her generation. Sadly, she became a 'Gold Star Mother' when she lost her oldest son in Vietnam. Her wit, sense of humor and forth rightness will be missed.
Services: Graveside service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Monday, August 7, at 11:00 a.m. Procession leaving SCHRADER Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m.
