Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 27th at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Moloney officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
A daughter of the late Regina Elizabeth "Jean" (Lewis) and George J. Macha, Anita was born on March 21, 1954 in Würzburg, Germany. She was one of four German orphans – ranging in age from 13 to 19 months - adopted by families in Wichita Falls from a Catholic orphanage through the Children's Welfare Society in Würzburg. The story of their journey to Texas and the airline flight from Berlin landing at Love Field in Dallas made the front page of the July 29, 1955, edition of the Dallas Morning News. Anita and her family were among the founding members of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She attended Our Lady Queen of Peace Elementary, Zundy Junior High, and Wichita Falls High School. Her primary occupations were as a homemaker and nursing home caregiver.
Along with her parents, Anita was also preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Mary (Marak) Macha, and her cousins, Margaret Ann (Brown) Smith and Michael W. Brown.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bobby Ray "Bill" Jackson; their son, Joey Dwayne Jackson, and her husband's children, Billy Ray, Ruben, and Barbara; her brothers Barry, Paul, and John Macha; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and her beloved dog, Buffy. Among her favorite pastimes was watching episodes of the old TV shows Gunsmoke and Bonanza.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76309.
