David William Bailey is one of the oldest residents of the Moroni district of Sanpete County. His home has been in Utah for three quarters of century, and since early childhood he had lived in and around Moroni. He is one of the few surviving veterans of the early Indian wars, and his life has been well and vigorously spent as a farmer and rancher, a good citizen and a loyal churchman.

In 1856, when he was five years of age, the family crossed the ocean and coming to Utah, located in Nephi, where his father began his activity as an American citizen. In the spring of 1860 the family moved to Moroni, where the name of Bailey has been honored ever since John Bailey did duty as a soldier in protecting the settlement from Indian hostilities.

His wife is Elizabeth Blackham Bailey. They were married on January 9, 1871.
