Andrew Parnell, Aged 59, Succumbs to Illness.
Andrew Parnell died at his home in this city last Sunday afternoon at about two o'clock, and was buried in the Buster Cemetery near Williamstown the following day, after services conducted at the home at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Holyfield. His death was the result of an illness of a dropsical nature with complications, which first seized him less than three weeks ago.
Deceased had lived in Jefferson County for 55 years, having come here with his parents in 1860 from Buchanan County, Missouri, where he was born October 5, 1856. More than thirty years of that time were spent on a farm near Perry, but since 1901 he had made his home in this city. His father died about seven years ago, and since then he had made his home with his mother, Mrs. Margaret Parnell. He was converted and joined the Christian church at Williamstown about thirty years ago, and remained a faithful Christian to the end.
He was married twenty-five years ago, his wife dying three years ago near McLouth. Their only child, a son, died in infancy about twenty years ago.
Beside his mother, he is survived by a brother, James, of Perry; and a sister, Mrs. Julia Duncan of Williamstown. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
