JOHN R. STANLEY was the son of John Edward Chesley Stanley and Mrs. Martha Susan (Matthias) Stanley.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was the husband of Mrs. Betty Cordy (Davenport) Stanley whom he married on February 6, 1945 in Comanche, Oklahoma.

"Fred" Stanley, of Hudson Bay, Canada, and John "Jay" Stanley, of Sheridan; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Bunnell, of East Stroudsburg; seven grandchildren; a brother, Sam Stanley, of Marshall, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Denver Lancaster, of Marshall, Texas, and Mrs. Peggy Dee Ballard, of Center, Texas; and several nieces and nephews."
