She was a woman of compassion. She treated others how she would want to be treated and used her faith to overcome adversity in life. Moreover, she led with love and this was reflected in all of her relationships. She was a doting mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt all of whom will cherish memories of her each day.
Cathy loved to travel and explore unique and unusual places (including the world's largest shoe!). Since 2017, after the passing of her husband, she enjoyed extensive tours across the US including visiting the 100-mile yard sale this spring and was planning trips to California, Maine, and South Africa.
More than travel, she loved spending time with her friends and family. She would spend countless hours devoting her time and help to others, and she always put herself second.
Cathy was an accomplished pianist, animal lover, received a black belt in karate, and loved peanut butter and an occasional margarita (prickly pear being her favorite!)
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John W. Besing, and her parents, Leo and Betty Williams.
She is survived by her two daughters, April Besing (Nicholas) of Culver City, CA, and Tania Hart of Newnan, GA; two grandchildren, Breanna Hart and McKynly Hart; one sister,
Carole Nevins of Sturgeon Bay, WI; and a nephew, James R. Lottes, also of Sturgeon Bay, WI.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023
in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evansville, IN on Saturday, July 29. Some of Cathy's husband's ashes will be interred with her.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
