Stanley Jerome Opseth, age 90, of Lakeville MN graduated to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 25, 2023, of natural causes.

Born on June 1,1933 in Madison MN, to Hans Martin Opseth and Alma Josephine (Quale) Opseth.

His childhood was spent working on the family farm and at a full service gas station. His siblings were Raymond, Donald, and Ardyce. A younger brother, Harlan, died as a child. Stan graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955. He was stationed in San Diego California and served on the USS Hancock as an Electronics Technician.

On June 7, 1958, Stanley was united in marriage to Sharron Gayle Roverud. Five children were added to this union: Dawn, Julie, Mark, Paul, and Jill. Stan attended the University of Minnesota to study Physics. While attending there he was a part-time electronics teacher at Brown Institute. Stan received his Bachelor of Science degree in June 1962. Upon graduation, Stan was employed by RCA in New Jersey, Univac in Minnesota, and then employed at Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing (3M) for 29 years–27 in Maplewood MN, and 2 years in Menomonie WI.

Stan will be remembered for his whistling, his hard work, his Bible knowledge, and his exceptional carpentry skills. He designed and helped build their homes in Afton, MN; Menonomie, WI and Lakeville, MN. He was an avid woodworker making furniture for his wife, kids and grandkids and helping with a myriad of home projects for family and friends.

Stan is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sharron Gayle (Roverud) Opseth; children Dawn (Jeff) Rankin, Julie (Richard) Dahl, Mark (Michelle) Opseth, Paul (Rochelle) Opseth, and Jill (Jay) Stanish; grandchildren Brianne Rankin, Jenae' Rankin, Tristan Rankin; Samuel Dahl, Lydia Garizio, Caleb Dahl; Joshua Opseth, Zachary Opseth, Micah Opseth, Jonathan Opseth, Anna Opseth, Eli Opseth, Aliyah Opseth; Joseph Opseth, Christina Orsatti, Abigail Opseth, Shauna Baillargeon; John Stanish, Benjamin Stanish, Laura Stanish, Nathan Stanish, Elizabeth Stanish, Katherine Stanish; 10 great-grandchildren plus two more on the way. Stan is also survived by siblings Donald Opseth and Ardyce Bray and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Alma Opseth, and his brothers Raymond and Harlan Opseth.
