Yvonne Theresa Eagleson Mhire, age 77, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. She was born on January 9, 1946, to parents Claude and Hortense Conner Eagleson.
She attended Grand Lake High School, where she was a graduate in the Class of 1963, and also voted Miss Grand Lake High School. She was voted Miss Personality in the 1963 Miss Cameron Parish Pageant. Her love for her community and parish didn't stop there, she went on to work with the Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival Association for many years. She married her husband of 59 ½ years, Wendell N. Mhire on December 14, 1963.
Yvonne went to work for Calcasieu Marine National Bank at the Cameron Branch as a Bookkeeper in 1966, and worked her way up to Branch Manager. She stayed true to her community banking even after Calcasieu Marine was bought by Hibernia Bank, then to Capital One Bank. She finally retired from the banking industry with over 45 years of service. She completed the American Institute of Banking School.
She was a president of the Cameron Recreation District 6, as well as a member of the American Business Women Association, and received an award on April 1, 2011, as Business Woman of the Year. She was a very classy lady and was always very well-dressed everywhere she went. Yvonne was not only involved in the Cameron Parish Community with the Fur Festival Activities but as director of the Cameron Fishing Festival as well.
Some of Yvonne's favorite hobbies were working in her flower beds and would plant any flower she could get her hands on, dancing to French music, and LA Swamp Pop Music. She loved decorating the outside and inside of her home for the holidays, and was a member of the Krewe De Deaux Lac Mardi Gras Crew in Grand Lake where she and her husband were crowned King & Queen in 2004.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Hortense Conner Eagleson; her sisters, Roberta Richard, Shirley Chesson, Audrey Granger; her brother, Claude Larry Eagleson; and nephew, Tony Richard.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 59 1/2 years, Wendell N. Mhire; and her siblings, Margaret Eagleson Saltzman(Floyd) & Karen Eagleson Badeaux; sister-in-law, Peggy Eagleson; and many nieces and nephews who were her children at heart.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sitters, Julie Bentley and Doris Rowley for their compassionate care.

The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 5pm until 9pm with a rosary at 6pm. Visitation will resume Monday, July 24, 2023 at 8am until time of funeral service at 10am. Interment will follow at Sweetlake - Grand Lake Cemetery.
