Charles L. Spain To Be Buried In Bessemer Thursday
Charles L. Spain 67, former coroner of Jefferson County and active most of his adult life in politics, now member of the Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee, succumbed to injuries received in a fall at Hillman Hospital Tuesday. Recently he suffered head injuries in an automobile accident.
Mr. Spain was an active member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and was widely known throughout North Alabama.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. P. L. Welch, 5237 Avenue Q, Central Park, with burial in Union Cemetery, Bessemer.
Mr. Spain is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. Bertie McAnally, Mrs. R. L. Ray, Mrs. C. C. Roy, Mrs. Welch, Mrs. R. C. Miller, Mrs. E. D Reaves, Mrs M. W. Crowell and Mrs. W. E. Kullman, and one son, Charles, Jr.
Sons-in-law of Mr. Spain will be pallbearers.
