Our dear mother, Sherolyn Stokes Egelund, 84, passed away peacefully at her residence in Brigham City, Utah on February 27, 2023. She was born May 13, 1938, in Lewiston Utah, the daughter of Clarence Orson Hawkins and Pearl Kent. She married Gene Melton Collier on September 12, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later divorced. She married Darrell H. Stokes on May 30, 1968 in Lewiston, Utah. Darrell passed away on January 23, 2001. After the passing of Darrell she married Thomas Egelund on January 8, 2005, in the Ogden Temple.
Sherolyn's greatest love was her family. She also loved reading, geneology and watching the Utah Jazz. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held various callings.
She is survived by her husband, Tom, her daughters, Jeannette (Curt) Borovetz, Jo Ann Stokes, son Darrel Lynn (Skip) Stokes, sisters Mardene (Dale) Ferguson, Jean (Roger) Seamons, brother Earl (Vickie) Hawkins. She is also survived by Tom's family members: Rex Quarnberg, Kent (Julie) Egelund, Marianne Egelund, John (Joellen) Egelund, Daniel (Huong) Egelund, Kristin Egelund, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great-granchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Lynn Hawkins, her sister, Sharma Sleight, and daughter, Sandra Egelund Quarnberg. Sherolyn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed.
Funeral Services will be held Friday March 10, 2023 at 11 AM at the Brigham City 29th ward 531 North 100 West Brigham City, Utah 84302. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday March 9, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Gillies Funeral Chapel 634 East 200 South and on Friday from 10-10:45 AM at the church. Interment Brigham City Cemetery, Brigham City, UT.
