Anna Louise Eaton passed away at her home in Fort Smith, AR on July 14, 2023 at the age of 97. She was born in Rector, AR on December 4, 1925 to Ezra L. and Nannie E. Bartlett.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 5 siblings: Mary Ophelia, Bernice, Mayzell, James (Jim) and John.

Anna and Cecil S. Eaton Jr were married on July 28, 1945. After almost 60 years of marriage to the love of her life, Cecil died on February 19, 2004.

She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Tharnish (Larry), granddaughter Jennifer Fox (Greg), grandson Scott Tharnish (Andrea); five great grandchildren: Nathan, Chloe, Kirk, Bethany Fox and Addison Tharnish; many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Anna and Cecil's desire to have a family was not granted by the Lord early in their marriage as the Lord had a special little girl for them in mind. After 7 years the Lord blessed them with the adoption of Charlotte Jean at the age of 18 months old. In 1970, their family grew to include their "Favorite son-in-law" Larry Tharnish.

Anna's simplest pleasure in life were family gatherings where her sisters, Bernice and Mayzell, played the piano and organ while siblings, spouses, nieces, nephews, daughter, and friends would gather around singing hymns and favorite songs. Anna had a beautiful soprano voice and also played the piano by ear. Any song she heard, she could play. She loved dancing "the Jitterbug", winning several dance competitions. During her quiet time, she enjoyed reading the Bible, autobiographies, and working crossword puzzles. She loved celebrating the holidays and special occasions with family and friends, especially getting to cook for everyone. Her pot roast, green beans, pecan and chess pies were family and friends' favorites. Her love of cooking began early in life with helping her mother cook, and as a teenager working in her uncle's café, selling "many a 5 cent hamburger"! She enjoyed school, graduating with honors at the age of 16. She entered the business world upon graduation, progressing through various employments utilizing her extensive abilities in secretarial, bookkeeping, and office management positions. Later, Anna and Cecil decided to start their own business. With Cecil's extensive knowledge in farming and Anna's financial and office management skills they opened Eaton, Land and Realty Co. in Corning, AR. They loved their business and enjoyed the many lasting friendships they cultivated from it. Anna was a member of the "Business and Professional Women's Organization" and the Advisory Board of Corning Community Hospital. She was honored to be chosen as "Business Woman of the Year" in 1987. Many people in the community knew Anna as the "Hat Lady"! She loved her hats and would always show real estate wearing one – usually her favorite red hat.

As a young girl, she served her church through music. Later in adulthood, she sung in the choir, taught Sunday school, prepared food for church functions and families in need, and visited shut-ins. Because of her love for the Lord, she cherished witnessing whenever and to whomever she could.

Now, no longer encumbered by age and illness, what a time of rejoicing she is having being with the Lord and loved ones.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to: Children's Hospital in Little Rock or Fayetteville, AR, Children's Home in Paragould, AR, or St. Jude's in Memphis, TN.

Pallbearers: Nathan Fox (grandson), Allen Eaton, Bill Eaton, Chuck Eaton, Marty Eaton, and Mike Eaton (nephews).
