Nannie Aker Shipwash, 92, of Sheffey School Road, Max Meadows, Va., died Tuesday, December 28, 1999 at her residence. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Henry Winton Aker and Page Frye Aker .

sHE was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Franklin Shipwash; two sisters; two brothers; and a great-grandson, Eric Thompson.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Paige and Luther Younger of Wytheville, Va., Beulah and Dallas E. Spraker, Dorothy S. and Dwight Poole, all of Rural Route, Max Meadows; a foster son and spouse, Garland and Mary Ruth Manuel of Rural Route, Max Meadows; two brothers, Earl J. Aker, Dennis N. Aker, both of Wytheville, Va.; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Callahan, the Rev. Joe Carrico, and the Rev. Rae Mullins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the Mt. Zion Church where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday or at her residence at any time.

The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va. is in charge of the arrangements.
