DESLOGE – Velma Bannister, 87, of Bonne Terre, passed away November 10, 2022, at Presbyterian Manor in Farmington. She was born March 6, 1935, in Ste. Genevieve County, to the late Bert and Pearl (Pigg) Turley.
Velma was a member of the Three Cross Cowboy Church. She was a talented piano player and played for many church services for over 30 years. She worked for the USDA through a federal farm program in St. Francois Country for 32 years. This allowed her to know several of the farmers in the area. Velma loved tole painting and traveling all over the United States and Europe, but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers.
Velma was a loving wife to her husband of 70 years, Jerry Bannister, mother to children Debbie Scoggin and husband Marc, Alan Bannister, an adoring grandmother to Addie Scoggin, Denton (Samantha) Scoggin and Alaina Bannister.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, November 14, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Michael McGee will be officiating. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery in Farmington.
