MR. WILBUR MOBLEY, 74, life long resident of Macclenny, Florida, passed from this life to be with the Lord in glory on Monday, June 16, 2003.

He was born February 16, 1929, along with his twin brother Willie "Bill" Mobley. Their mother, Pearl Thomas Mobley, passed away of pneumonia three weeks later. Their father, Jesse Lee Mobley, and grandparents Walton and Nellie Thrift Mobley raised them until their dad remarried Lilly Crews Mobley, when Wilbur and Bill were five years old. Half-brother Emory Mobley (wife Cecil) was born of this union.

Wilbur is a graduate of Jones Business College. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, training troops in operating and maintenance of tanks. Following his service time he worked as parts manager for an auto service company in Jacksonville, Fl. He later became Chief Deputy in Baker County under Sheriffs Ed Yarbrough and Paul Thrift. They worked diligently in routing out moonshine in Baker County. He also worked as a guard in the State of Florida prison system, and eventually became Stores Manager at Northeast State Hospital, before retiring on medical disability.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Emma Jean Morgan Mobley. He is survived by his second wife, Faye Altwater Bowman Mobley, son, Warren Mobley, stepdaughter, Vicki Bowman, and stepson Brian C. Bowman (Vickie Linn), 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Wilbur was a life long member of Macedonia Independent Methodist Church and a board member of Macedonia Cemetery Association.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by GUERRY FUNERAL-HOME, Macclenny, Florida. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2003, at 11 a.m., in the Macedonia Independent Methodist Church, Officiating will be Pastor John Yarbrough.

Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery.
