John J. "Jack" Body
April 10, 1932 - July 7, 2023

John J. "Jack" Body of Severna Park, formerly of Chevy Chase, MD, passed away peacefully on July 7 surrounded by loved ones at age 91.
Jack was born in Indiana, PA, the son of Horace and Ollie Tate Body. He spent his early years in Wise County, VA, and lived most of his life in the Washington D.C. area, where he graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. He enjoyed a long and proud career in the construction industry, beginning with Novinger Lathe and Plaster Company where he worked on many historical projects including the White House, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the State Department as well as other landmark buildings in the area. He went on to have a long career with the Marriott corporation, successfully guiding the completion of some of Marriott's then-largest U.S. projects including the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton at Grande Lakes, FL, and the Ritz-Carlton on Central Park in New York City, among others. Following his retirement, he and Janet retired to McHenry, MD, where they and their family enjoyed the Deep Creek Lake area. Jack enjoyed golf, skiing, boating, motorcycling, sunsets over the Severn River, and keeping up with the activities of his grandchildren.

Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Janet Poulter Body, his son John J. Jr., his wife Meg Freeman Body and his sisters Margaret Hackney and Betty Geisbert. He is survived by his daughters Judy Callahan (Michael), Jane Roussil (Larry), and Jan Golden (Brian).

Jack had 11 grandchildren, Peter (Kelly) Kimmel, Mathew (Katie) Kimmel, Katie (Todd) Tasker, Courtney (Chris) Conley, Jordan (Tim) Storey, Patrick Roussil, Tim Roussil, Connor Roussil, Colleen Roussil, Taylor Golden and Tim Golden as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Friday, July 14 at 10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 11 am (5949 Western Ave. NW, Washington D.C. 20015) Interment following the ceremony at Parklawn Cemetery (12800 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD, 20853).
