Velma M. Jensen, 95, of Monticello formally of Wyoming passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Monticello Nursing and Rehab.

A Celebration of Velma's Life will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Dawson Funeral Services in Wyoming where a visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am on Monday at Dawson Funeral Services. Burial will be at a later date at Antioch Cemetery in rural Anamosa.

Velma Marie was born on June 20, 1928 at home outside of Onslow, Iowa to Wilke and Elma (Blanche) Husmann. She attended Onslow Community School. On August 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to James Conley in Maquoketa, he preceded her in death in 1950. In 1951 she married Clarence Shady, he also preceded her in death. Donald Jensen and Velma were married on May 18, 1974 in Ottumwa, he preceded her in death in 2017. She worked at Clinton Engines as a laborer for several years and worked beside her husband on their family farm. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed visiting the casino. Velma spent her time reading many books and watching her favorite TV shows. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she was so proud of.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Judy (Wayne) Potter, Janice Houston both of Maquoketa, twenty grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, thirty great-great grandchildren, three sisters: Velda Hollman, Helen Christiansen, Betty Ham, a brother Edward (Sheryl) Husmann, son-in-law David Heim of Cascade and a daughter-in-law Deb Shady of Lawton, OK.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two brothers: Ernest and Alva Husmann, two sisters: Lois Mott and Lucille Lund, three daughters: Sharon (Clem) Specht, Jane Bliss, Marvel Heim and two sons: James Conley and Robert Shady.
