Fargo

Allen C. Tweten, 91, passed away peacefully, on July 11, 2023, at Bethany on University, in Fargo, ND. Born on April 2, 1932, in Fargo, to Clarence and Mabel (Stulz) Tweten. Allen grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN. From a very young age, he learned the value of hard work, as he helped haul milk with his father, from farm to farm, in the area of Glyndon, MN.

Allen's work ethic continued during his teen years, when he was employed by Cass Clay Creamery, learning how to make ice cream and popsicles, with his mother. Followed by the beginning of his career as a truck driver, he joined the team at the Sanitation Department, with the City of Moorhead. As a Teamster Union Member, he drove semi for Twin City Freight and various companies, until his retirement in 1994. His commitment and dedication to his work, were unmatched.

Another significant chapter of Allen's life was his military service, from 1952 to 1955. He served in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, as part of a bridge building and engineer crew. His dedication to serving his country was unwavering. He earned an honorable discharge from the military. Allen started his next chapter in Moorhead, MN., to raise his family.

In 1953, Allen was united in marriage to LaVonne Marchand, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Their union was blessed with seven children: Ginger, Cindee, Bonnie, Joy, Jeffrey, Thomas, and Anthony. Allen took immense pride in his children and considered them to be his proudest accomplishments.

Aside from his career and family life, Allen had several interests that brought him enjoyment. He kept active with his many side jobs, such as: mowing lawns, rototilling gardens, and blowing snow. For many years he enjoyed the art of square dancing and developed lifelong friendships. Allen also showcased his organizational skills in his basement/garage, by utilizing all baby food and peanut butter jars, to contain nuts, bolts, twist ties, various tacks etc. He spent many hours volunteering, and was presented with the AARP Andrus Award, for Community Service. Allen was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

Allen's warm personality and strong work ethic, left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a devoted son, brother, cousin, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and cherished friend. His kind-hearted nature and willingness to lend a helping hand, endeared him to many.

Allen is survived by his children: Ginger (Ken) Reile, Port Charlotte, FL., Cindee (Paul) Sather, Fargo, Joy (Mike) Dunn, West Fargo, ND., Jeffrey Tweten, Fargo, Thomas (Teresa) Tweten, Hawley, MN., Anthony Tweten, Fargo; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers: Milton Tweten, Moorhead, Curtis (Irene) Tweten, Reseda, CA.; sister, Darlene (Cliff) Lenz, Coeur D'Alene, ID.; longtime friend, Arlys; and many nieces and nephews.
