James Hines was born in Allentown, PA the son of Irish immigrants Francis"Frank" Hines and Mary Shields who were both born in County Donegal, Ireland. In 1898 he enlisted in the Army and served in the Spanish American War, PA Regiment 2, Company C. He married Grace Orr at St.Edmonds R.C. Church in Philadelphia(was married at a earlier date by a Justice of the Peace) on April 23, 1915 and they had two children, Elizabeth and James. James Hines died June 23, 1916.
