John E. Armstrong- born NYC 1842
Died in Brewster, Putnam County, NY, May 10, 1879 - 36 yrs. old 9 months, 10 days
His parents, with their seven children moved to Brooklyn.
Great-grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
Grandfather - War of 1812
He and his 2 brothers enlisted in 1861 - Rebellion War - Oct 14, 1961
Brooklyn regiment - 3 years ; At Gettyburg he was wounded
Oct 14, 1864 - Honorably discharged
Dead were his father, one brother, his only sister. Four brothers being married, so he and his mother removed from Brooklyn, and moved to Babylon - Prospect Street
Build house; never married; suffered from organic affection of the heart; died of hemorrhage of the stomach; left his mother, brothers.
