Funeral services for Edwin Forest Alden III, 80, of Bull Creek, will be held March 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. in the Forsyth Christian Church with Pastor Dean Burton officiating. Special music will be provided by Mrs. Terri Burton. Burial, with full military honors, will be provided by the Korean War Veterans Association, Harry S. Truman Chapter at 2 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be held March 24, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home in Forsyth. Arrangements are under the direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Alden died March 20, 2008, in Skaggs Community Hospital in Branson.
Edwin was born the son of Edwin and Edith (Baber) Alden. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served with the 101st Airborne Division Ft. Cambell, Ky., and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
After his military service, Edwin moved back to Reeds Spring and married Reva Rife. He had worked for the Pacific Inter-mountain Express Truck lines as an auto transport truck driver and later retired to Bull Creek in 1987. He was a past member of the Ozark Mountain Christian Church and a new member of the Forsyth Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and Harry Alden; sisters, Sadie Alden and Margaret Thornburg.
He is survived by his wife, Reva; sons, Edwin Duane Alden and his wife Cydni, of Springfield, and David Alden and his wife Cathy, of Trimble; daughters, Shelia Neth and her husband Michael, of Smithville, and Colleen Stone and her husband Michael, of Rogersville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
