El Wanda Adams, 73, of Port Orchard, Washington, died Friday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington.
She was born in Kiowa County, Oklahoma to Newell and Nora Lee (Strader) Janes. She graduated from Lake Valley High School in Lake Valley, Oklahoma, in 1947 and attended Southwestern University in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
On July 16, 1948, she married Dr. Kenneth Adams in Washita County, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Adams' professional career spanned more than 40 years, from 1957 until her retirement in 1997 from Sound Counseling of Port Orchard, where she worked with her husband as the office manager. Previously, she was an office worker in civil service at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington, Naval Submarine Base Bangor, Washington, Trident Services of Bangor and the public health hospital in Seattle, Washington.
She was an artist and a member of the American Business Women's Association. She was affiliated with the Methodist failth.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Kenneth Adams of the family home in Port Orchard; a son, Dale Adams and his wife, Pamela, of Port Orchard; three sisters, Joann Lancaster and her husband, Bill, of Port Orchard, Shirley Strickler and her husband, Bob, and Patsy Peters and her husband, Russ, all of Sweet Home, Oregon; and three grandchildren, Kelly Adams of Vancouver, Washington, Adam Adams of Seattle, and Hope Heidtman of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, also at Ril Chapel.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton.
Memorials donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. North, Seattle, Washington 98103.
