Elijah Boll, eighty-three, oldest resident of Maytown, died at 9:45 p.m. yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital where he had been a patient for five weeks. He was born in York County a son of the late Isaac and Esther Brooe Boll and resided in Maytown for more than 62 years. He made his home in recent years with his daughter, Mrs. George F. Waller. Mr. Boll was a retired tobacco grower and served as the postmaster at Maytown for 17 years. He was a member of the Maytown Evangelical and Reformed Church, where he was a caretaker for many years; also a member of the Lancaster County Republican Club. He is survived by four daughters, Esther, wife of John M. Weaver, of Elizabethtown RD; Ida, wife of Samuel E. Sheaffer, of Elizabethtown; Jane, wife of C. Morris Scheetz, of Allentown; and Alberta , wife of George F. Waller, with whom he resided; also ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. (Lancaster New Era - Sep 29, 1944)
