Vivian Allen Bell
October 25, 1921 - August 15, 2022

Vivian "Vee Vee" Allen Bell died peacefully at home in Nellysford, Virginia with her family by her side on August 15, 2022. Vee Vee was 100 years old and celebrated this milestone with family and friends in October 2021. What a wonderful, gentle soul she was. We know there was quite a celebration when her husband Charles F. Bell, son Allen Drew Bell, her parents, Ernest and Vivian Allen, brothers, Marvin, Infant brother David, Graham, and Billy Allen and little sister Betty Fay Sanders all welcomed her home. Vee Vee had a wonderful life with many dear friends. Everyone she met was instantly drawn to her. She was kind, thoughtful, and so very sweet. Vee Vee graduated from New Hanover High School at the age of sixteen and went on to college. After graduating from Louisburg College, Vee Vee worked as a secretary at Armour Fertilizer Company in Wilmington, NC. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life and on April 3, 1943, Vee Vee was married to her sweetheart, Charles F. Bell. Theirs was a true love story that lasted for 70 1/2 years. Her husband's career resulted in several moves; from Wilmington to Jacksonville, FL to Richmond, VA to Jacksonville and back to Wilmington when Charlie retired. While in Richmond, Vee Vee was employed as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Vee Vee loved dancing with Charlie, listening to all kinds of music, laughing, antiquing, refinishing finds, playing bridge, basket-making, chocolate, ice cream and her favorite movie, "The Way We Were." She was witty, always kind, generous and so loving. Her children were truly blessed to have her as their mother. Vee Vee and Charlie traveled to Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland, Bahamas, and Canada. They loved to vacation at Edisto Island when their children were small. Vee Vee loved her church, Trinity United Methodist, where she was christened, confirmed, and married. Vee Vee is survived by her son, Charles F. Bell and wife, Linda of Johns Creek, GA, daughter, Allison Bell of Nellysford, VA, four grandchildren: Lisa Bell Atkinson and husband Jody of Atlantic Beach, FL, Douglas Allen Bell of Barcelona, Spain, Marla Leigh Moore of Seattle, WA and John Stevenson and wife Karey of Paradise Valley, AZ, Four great grandchildren, Dylan Gall of Atlantic Beach, FL, Rebekah Drew Atkinson of Miami FL, Savannah and Sienna Stevenson of Paradise Valley , AZ. Vee Vee had many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply. A very special thank you to Kathy Kristiansen for her gift of loving care and support for Vee Vee. Thank you to her many caregivers over the years and to Hospice of the Piedmont. Also thank you to her many friends who would drop by to visit with her or send her cards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church of Wilmington, NC or to Hospice of the Piedmont, Charlottesville VA.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Vee Vee's life on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 4 to 6 pm at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC.
