LAFAYETTE — Services for Roy C . Durand, 89, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in La Chapelle de Martin and Castille with the Rev. Ken Broussard, Associate Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, officiating. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "On Eagles' Wings," "Just A Closer Walk With Thee," and "Ave Maria." Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
A native and resident of Lafayette for all of his life, Mr. Durand died peacefully Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Mr. Durand was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.
He proudly served his county as a member of the United States Navy where he served as a C .B. He was owner and operator of City Cab Company, where he retired after many years. He enjoyed talking to people and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the St. Genevieve Catholic Church Community. Mr. Durand will be dearly missed not only by family and friends, but by all of those whose lives he has touched throughout the years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Stebbins Durand; three daughters, Dianne Meehan and husband Jerry, Donna E. Fruge and husband Mike, and Daynese Haynie and husband Randy, all of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Maurice Raffoul, Ryan and Dayna Haynie, Charles, Walter, Roy Christian and Derek; five great-grandchildren, Bailey, Alex, Elizabeth, Paige and Drake; and four brothers, Carl Durand, John Philip Durand, Richard and George Alleman.
Mr. Durand was preceded in death by his parents, M.E. and Edith LaSalle Durand ; first wife, Hilma Durand ; a brother, Valerie J. Durand ; a sister, Ivy Kiplinger; and a grandchild, Christopher Meehan.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Meehan, Michael Fruge', Randy Haynie, Maurice Raffoul, Roy Christian Durand , Ryan Haynie, Charles Powell, Walter Powell and Derek Meehan.
