He was born December 4, 1929 in Weston, West Virginia to William S. & Lettie (Wiant) Pumphrey. He graduated from Weston High School in 1948 and had retired as the supervisor of the tool room at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky in 1993. Bill served our country in the United States Navy and National Guard.  

Mr. Pumphrey was a member of the Clyde Eagles, where he formerly served as trustee. A true handyman, he could fix anything and was always willing to help his family with any project. 

On November 7, 1953 he married Jeanette (Wahl) and she survives in Clyde. Also surviving are [living individuals names omitted].

 In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Joy (Joe) Dillard and Wanda (Wayne) Fleshman; and his brother-in-law, Reed Stewart.

 Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 South Main St, Clyde. His funeral service will be 10:30am Monday, July 10 at the funeral home. Military graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens with Clyde VFW & American Legion providing the honors. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clyde or Stein Hospice in Sandusky.
