James Otis Atchison, 72, of Uniontown, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008, at the Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott, Kansas.

He was born July 19, 1935 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William Allen and Augusta Jane (Hungate) Atchison.

Until 1975, he lived on the family farm with his parents in Berryton, Kansas, southeast of Topeka.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Topeka.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane Bruner and husband Charles, of Uniontown, KS; a step-niece, Reatha Juden, of Winfield, KS; and a step-nephew, Gary C. Bruner, of Paola, KS.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Rev. Larry Stevicks will conduct funeral services March 31, 2008 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, Fort Scott, Kansas, with burial following at the Paint Creek Cemetery (also known as Marion Cemetery), Redfield, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
