Linda Lee Mattle passed away on July 3, 2023 in Brownsville, Texas. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and dear friend to all.
Linda was born on July 22, 1938 to Iris Gertrude Ofslager and Edgar Thomas Bowen in Rochester, New York. She married Raymond Mattle on February 2, 1957 in Rochester, New York. They began their married life in South Bend, Indiana, and moved to Utica, New York before settling in Huntsville, Alabama where they raised their three children. After 30 years, Ray and Linda relocated to Brownsville where they have resided since.

Linda graduated with a nursing degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and masters degrees from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in nursing and business administration. With these degrees she worked as an operating room nurse and then became an operating room nursing director. Linda came to Brownsville to help the Brownsville Medical Center start an open-heart surgery unit. After serving as Director of Nursing at the Brownsville Medical Center, she finished her career as Chief Nursing Officer at Dolly Vinsant Hospital.
Linda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in many leadership capacities within her church in the Brownsville area and the Rio Grande Valley. After retiring from her nursing career she also served a church humanitarian mission with her husband where they distributed clothing and household goods to those in need throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Linda had many talents and interests including singing, playing the harp and piano, cake decorating, sewing, cooking, candy making, reading, and family history research.
A viewing will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 114 East Price Road in Brownsville, TX on Friday, July 7 from 5 PM to 8 PM. A brief viewing will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 10:00 to 10:45 AM prior to the funeral service at 11 AM at the Price Road building. She will be interred in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.
