Joseph A. Greenawalt, 86, of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, and formerly of Waynesboro, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 1988, in the nursing home. In failing health, he entered the nursing home in April 1987.

Born Aug. 13, 1902, in Clay Hill, he was the son of the late John S. and Laura A. Besore Greenawalt.

He was a lifelong resident of the area.

For 15 years, he owned and operated a tavern in Funkstown, Md. Prior to this, he owned and operated Chocolate Park Tavern, Cascade, Md., for 15 years.

Mr. Greenawalt was a member of Eagles Club Inc.

Surviving are a daughter, Joann Eigenbrode of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Esther Shank of Quincy United Methodist Home and Meda Benedict of Menno-Haven, Chambersburg.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Snyder Funeral Home, 48 S. Church St. Bishop Joseph H. Yeakel will officiate. Burial will be in Germantown Bethel Cemetery, Lance, Md.

There will be no viewing. However, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 96 W. Main St., Waynesboro 17268.
