She was born September 18, 1935 in Sevier County, Tennessee to the late Oscar Ernest McCarter and Josie Melvinia (Ramsey) McCarter.
In addition to her parents, Viola is preceded in death by her husband, Eli Burl Wilson; a son, Richard "Rick" Neal; brothers, Leo, Earl, Issac, Mack, James, Bruce, and Hollis McCarter; and sisters, Rintha Brown, Cassie Greene, and Alma Roulette.
Surviving family include her grandchildren, Aaron Neal and Alicia Neal; a great-grandchild, Holly Neal; stepsons, Tim Wilson, Jim Wilson, and Tom Wilson and their children; and a host of extended family and friends.
Viola was a homemaker and a very devote Christian who loved to attend church when she was able. She took much pride in all she done. Viola was a former member of the Ladies Club for Meadows Grove as well as the chairperson for the Lake Cumberland Commissary services. Viola was also a proud Honorary Kentucky Colonel and member of the executive committee for the McCreary County Republican Party. She will be sadly missed.
Per the request of her family, a private Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens.
