He is buried in an unmarked grave in the Goates Cemetery. He was married on October 10, 1894 in Madison, Arkansas to Nora Arabelle Burch, the daughter of Samuel Houston Burch and Phoebe Simmons. There must have been a divorce because Ira is shown as being remarried again to Annie Sevey on November 6, 1936 in Sebastian, Arkansas. Annie Sevey and Annie Goodwin are in reality the same person as Annie Effie Goodwin had previously been married to Lowell Benjamin Sevey.
