John Edward Cummings, a well known farmer and stockman of Fall River, was born January 30, 1879 near Fall River, Kansas, and died April 28, 1944, at his home near Fall River. The deceased was the son of John and Mary Cummings, early pioneers of the Charlston community.

On July 28, 1909 he was united in marriage to Millie Wright at Helena, Okla. To this union were born eight children, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Oty Claiborne of Fredonia, John M. Cummings of Fall River, Mrs. Delbert R. Wygle of Eureka, Sgt. Eugene Cummings of Camp Carson, Colorado, William H., Mary F. and Ellis E. of the home. There are six grandchildren; Guy and Arthur Claiborne, Donna and Sue Cummings, Kenneth Cummings, and Carmen Wygle. Eight sisters and one brother survive him.

He was a trusted neighbor, a good father and a loving husband. A host of friends as well as loved ones will miss him.

Funeral service was held from the Baird Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bert Sutton. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
