BETTIE SCHIFFMAN CHANDGIE GREENSBORO On June 16th, 1931 a wonderful little girl was born. On April 20th, 2014 a truly wonderful woman died. Bettie Schiffman Chandgie left us peacefully in her sleep at her home in Greensboro. She was everything one could want in a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend. She loved the world and the world loved her. Bettie was the only child of Ruth and Harry Schiffman. She attended public school and Mrs. Rypins Private School in Greensboro prior to graduating from Salem Academy in Winston Salem and Mount Vernon Junior College in Washington, D.C. After college, she worked a year in New York for the Community Chests and Councils of America. In 1952 Bettie married Bob Chandgie and they lived in New Haven, CT while he finished his senior year of college. They returned to Greensboro in 1953 where they have resided until the present. Bettie dedicated her life to her family - her husband, Bob; her son, Marc; her son, Ric and his wife Debbie; her grandchildren Chris, Reid, Stan and his wife, Kelly; her three great grandchildren - and to the many others who needed a kind word or deed. Bettie lived a selfless life seeing only the good in people - in all her years she never spoke a disparaging or unkind word about anyone. She will be greatly missed by the many whose lives she touched. There will be a private graveside service for family to honor her life.
