RUBY L. HARTNETT
BELMONT, Wis. - Ruby L. Hartnett, 90, of Belmont, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 27, 1997, at Southwest Health Center, Platteville.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mergen-Boll Funeral Home, Platteville, with the Rev. Rom A. Pegram officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ruby Leona Hartnett was born on Sept. 22, 1906, in rural Beetown, Grant County, daughter of Joseph and Josephine Bradley. She married Earl B. Hartnett on Jan. 19, 1927, in Dubuque. They farmed east of Platteville on Mitchell Hollow Road for more than 31 years. They retired in 1963, and moved to Belmont.
She attended the Slab Town School, rural Beetown. She was a member of Platteville United Methodist Church and Belmont Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, her cats and her family.
Surviving are her husband, Earl Hartnett, of Parkview Terrace Nursing Home, Platteville; three daughters, Leona (Tom) Huggins and Barbara Schuster, both of Belmont, and Kathleen Weigel, of Platteville; a son, Vivian Hartnett, of Belmont; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Naomi (Carlton) Voigts, of Madison; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Hooks, of Platteville.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nancy Lou Huggins and Harold William Schuster; a sister, Harriet Gorman; and a brother, Clarence "Bud" Hooks.
In lieu of flowers, a Ruby L. Hartnett Memorial Fund has been established.
