A woman who was one of the few county officials in Texas County died Saturday (Nov. 5, 1955) at her home in Raymondville.

She was Cora F. McKinney, 73, who served as Texas County Circuit Clerk from 1915 to 1919 to fill out the unexpired term of her husband, Oliver S. Miller, who died a few months after he was elected to office. Mrs. McKinney -- then Mrs. Cora Miller -- served almost four years in office. Her deputy was General Romines.

In later years she was married to George McKinney who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. McKinney was born in Houston and had been a life-long resident of Texas County.

Survivors include four sons: Duvil Miller, Sheridan, Wyoming; Delmar Miller, Rolla; Roscoe Miller, Adel, Iowa; and Doyle McKinney of Neosho, Mo. and one brother George Gross of Houston.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 8, 1955) at the Raymondville Methodist Church by the Rev. Lloyd Tyree. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery under direction of Elliott's of Houston.

*published in the Houston Herald in Nov. 1955
**dates of birth and death were obtained from her death certificate (Missouri 35724)
***although the obit states her middle initial as "F", the name Sylvania is spelled out on her death certificate and certified by her son, Doyle G. McKinney
