She was born on March 19, 1944, in Rochester, Indiana to Oscar Wayne and Lois May (Nordman) Crill. She married on April 29, 1961 in North Manchester, Indiana. to Buddy L. Hammond Sr., he survives.
Joan attended Akron High School. She was a dedicated and hardworking individual throughout her life. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, and she had a special love for animals. These hobbies brought her great joy and allowed her to connect with nature. In years past, she worked in the Deli at Lance's Grocery Store and also for Timbercrest Senior Living Community.
Joan was a woman of faith and found solace in her spirituality. She worshipped at Shiloh Chapel, where she found strength and support within her community. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, and also was Song Leader at the church. Joan leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan is survived by her devoted spouse of 63 years, Bud Hammond of Akron; her loving son, Buddy Jr. and wife Carla Hammond of Akron; her cherished daughter, Kimberly and husband Mark Hubartt of Muncie; and grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Brandon, and Leann.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents.
