Although there is no paper trail, it is assumed Francis Gullion died in 1879 in Howard County and is buried with his two wives, parents and grandfather at Twin Springs Cemetery. Several of his grandchildren stated that Elmer came to live with his oldest half-sister, Mary Jane (Gullion) Robertson when he was 5 years old after his father, Francis, died. The 1880 Federal Census has all of Francis Gullion's minor children living with the Robertson family and Francis does not appear in the 1880 census.
