Betty Brown Obituary
Betty Jean Brown, 84, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on June 25, 2023. She was born on January 18, 1939, in Burkesville, Kentucky, to parents, Marshall Wilson Young and Sally Jewel (King) Young.
Betty loved to travel. Whether it was cross-country with her late husband, Tom, or day trips with a good friend or family member, Betty enjoyed getting out to see new places.
She was an independent, funny, dependable, and an inspiring woman to all who knew her. She loved her family with all her heart was immensely proud of each and every one of her family members.
One activity that Betty really enjoyed doing, was to go shopping. She also loved to read mystery books and watch different mystery shows on TV.
Betty is survived by her children, Robert Lee Shinkle (Connie), Richard Allen Shinkle (Margaret), Nora Jean Smith, Michael D. Shinkle, David Brian Shinkle (Shawna); stepdaughter, Michelle Eggemeyer (Gil); 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and siblings, Wyl Young and Evelyn Lineback.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Wilson and Sally Jewel Young; her husband, Thomas Bill Brown; stepson, Michael John Brown; and granddaughter, Meghan Shinkle.
Visitation for Betty will be from 11am-2pm on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East – 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, with a funeral service immediately following at 2pm. Entombment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or The Salvation Army.
