Betty Jean Allison, 78

Chester - Betty Jean Allison, of Carolina Avenue, died peacefully at noon July 1, 2005, while sitting on her front porch. She was born March, 21, 1927, in Chester, the daughter of the late Earl and Sara Wycoff Reese. She was a lifetime resident of Chester. She served as the receptionist for the Hancock County Courthouse and retired in 1982 after 20 years of service. She also worked during World War II in a bomb factory and was a volunteer assistant Brownie leader and Cub Scout den mother. Her heart was always with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand-grandmother. Her husband, James E. Allison, whom she married April 22, 1947, died in December 1990. Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Riddle of Fayetteville, Pa.; two sons, Larry Allison of New Cumberland and Randy Allison of Manassas, Va.; two grandchildren, Larry Allison, Jr., and Cindy Konchar; and two great-grand-children, Logan and Mason Konchar. She enjoyed babysitting her great-grandchildren, baking, gardening, dancing and coin collecting. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Arner Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Thomas S. Riddle as celebrant. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and may send condolences to the Allison Family at 243 Carolina Ave., Chester, WV 26034 or online at [email protected]. Donations can be made in Betty's name to the Lynn Murray Memorial Library, 601 Railroad St., Chester, WV 26034.
