Marjory Ann Starnes, 74, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the St Vincent Heart Center in Carmel.

She was born on June 5, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of Milton Abram and Idah Louise (Peterman) Short. Marjory attended Speedway High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Marjory was co-founder, owner and operator of Starnes Trucking in Avoca, Indiana for over forty years before retiring in 2007.

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, companion and friend, who loved helping others. She enjoyed traveling, reading, talking on the phone, and catching up with her family and friends. Margie was an outstanding cook, loved to entertain and never met a stranger. She will be remembered for her generous heart, outgoing personality, giving great advice, and always putting others' needs before her own. Margie will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marjory is survived by her life partner, Jim Richardson of Bloomington; her children, Kevin (Faith) Hoopingarner of Palm Bay, FL; Jennifer Starnes of Bloomington; Danielle Richardson of Goshen; James (Vanessa) Richardson of Piedmont, SC; eight grandchildren, Meagan Buckingham, Travis Hoopingarner, Jackson Mahuron; Molly Mungle; Renee Richardson; Cade Mungle; Isabella Richardson and Garrett Richardson;her brothers, Michael (Virginia) Short of Bloomington; and Gary (Gary) Stearley of Tampa, FL; her sister-in-law, Nancy (Larry) Stearley of Punta Gorda, FL; her nephew, Coby Short; and nieces, Abby Henning; Deanna Short; Sherry Stiles and Debbie Eickles; as well as four great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Idah Short; her husband, Gary Starnes; two brothers; William Short and Larry Stearley; and cousins Anne Hunter and Robert Vicars.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Allen Funeral Home 4155 S. Old St Rd 37 Bloomington, with Father Charles Carpenter Officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday and from 10:00am to service time Friday, both at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St John's Episcopal Church in Bedford.

Allen Funeral Home and Crematory have been entrusted with arrangements.
