Obituary:

SCOTTSBORO — Dr. Charles M. Pendley, 63, died Tuesday. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Northeast Alabama Community College's Tom Bevill Lyceum.

Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge.

Eulogies will be delivered by state Sen. Lowell Barron, Dr. Mary Jane Caylor, Dr. Fred Gainous, Rep. Todd Greeson, Col. John Lyda and Jim Blevins with a special prayer by Charles Cobb.

Dr. Pendley had served Northeast Alabama Community College as president since 1982 and prior to that as business manager, dean of students and dean of instruction since 1965. He was a member of the National Guard for 42 years.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Hughes Pendley; one daughter, Caroline Colwell of Athens; his mother, Willie Taylor Pendley of Berry; one sister, Lorene Hutson of Tuscaloosa; and one brother, Doyle Pendley of Starkville, Miss.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Charles M. Pendley Scholarship Fund, Northeast Alabama Community College, P.O. Box 159, Rainsville, AL 35986.

Visitation will be today 5 to 9 p.m. at the Lyceum.

His body will be at the Lyceum one hour before the funeral.
