Joseph, the fourth child and only son of Anton Brenner Jr. and Margaret Harmon, was born in Durand on New Years Day, January 1, 1893. He grew up in the city of Durand where his father was a carpenter. He served in the Navy as a Seaman Second Class, stationed on a ship off Washington. After the war, he returned to Durand and met and married Claria M. Manore in St. Mary's Church in Durand on October 16, 1919. There first and only child, Joseph Charles, was born nine years after their marriage on January 18, 1929. On September 16, 1933, he opened his own business. On this date, Brenner Clothing Co. came into existance in Durand. After a long and full life, Joseph Anton Brenner passed away on July 16, 1975 at the age of 82. His death was the result of kidney failure induced by a stroke. During his lifetime, Joseph had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Durand Golf Club. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Durand.
