Doris Willabeth Reid, 89, of Brownwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday June 9, 2019. A funeral service, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home, will be held 2 P.M. Thursday June 13, 2019, with Brian Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Regency Cemetery in Mills County.
Doris was born April 26, 1930, in Santa Anna, Texas, to Albert Alton and Elsie Valera (Egger) Reid. She attended and graduated from Goldthwaite High School and later attended, for a while, Tarleton State University. Ms. Reid was an avid traveler and enjoyed seeing new places and learning about different cultures. She was a loving and compassionate person, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center for over 30 years. Ms. Reid attended the Oaks Baptist Church, formerly named First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff, for 50 years. She served her church faithfully in various positions. She also enjoyed walking, cooking, and visiting with her numerous friends.
Ms. Reid is survived her loving and devoted family of Vivian Reid (sister), and several nieces and nephews. She also had numerous good friends during her life including Penny Wilson and Evelyn Tune (deceased).
She was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Elsie Reid; sister, Romona Reid; brothers, Doyle Reid and Richard Reid.
